Shawnee Optical operates two lens production laboratories; one in Lima, Ohio and the other in Erie, Pennsylvania. Owning our own labs gives us the ability to tightly control the quality of the prescription lenses we provide to our patients. In recent years there has been a great deal of national attention paid to the problem of poorly filled eyeglass prescriptions. Television programs such as 20/20 and Good Morning America have done features on what they see as a rising problem in lens quality. At Shawnee Optical we leave nothing to chance. We start with lens blanks designed by the leading lens manufacturer in the world, Essilor , and use computerized lens lathes, lens edgers and coaters in our own labs to ensure that prescriptions are filled as the doctors wrote them. Every lens goes through a double inspection process to protect our patients. If it’s not right – we remake it, it’s that simple.
