Dr. Sumant Malhotra Dr. Malhotra earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Houston in 1999 and graduated with Honors College membership. He worked as an Eye Tissue Donor Coordinator and Recovery Technician with Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor College of Medicine prior to starting his post-graduate work at the University of Houston College of Optometry. During professional school, Dr. Malhotra served as a teaching assistant for the Contact Lens laboratory. He was one of the few distinguished students to earn a Clinical Letter of Excellence in Cornea and Contact Lenses. His Grand Rounds presentation was one of three selected cases to become published in the Institute of Optometric Practice. During his optometric training, he completed an externship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lyons, NJ which gave him extensive ocular disease experience with Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. His fellowship under Dr. Kim Castleberry with Plano Eye Associates in Plano, Texas gave him training with advanced scanning laser ophthalmoscopy technology. Dr. Malhotra was actively involved in community service by participating in Special Olympics vision screenings and seeing patients on a mission trip to Honduras with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. Dr. Malhotra has worked closely with eye surgeons in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2004 and has been in private practice since 2007. He specializes in ocular therapeutics and disease treatment. He has an extended scope license that allows him to prescribe oral medications as well as treat Glaucoma. Dr. Malhotra also has a special interest in dry eye syndrome and ocular allergy management. Dr. Malhotra is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and has previously served on the Dallas County Optometric Society Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Burleson Chamber of Commerce, Burleson Rotary Club, and the Tarrant County Optometric Society. Dr. Malhotra is happily married and has a two year old daughter. Dr. Seidel was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and moved shortly afterwards with his family to California where he lived until moving to Texas in 1976. He attended grade school in Keene, Texas until 1978 when his family moved to the state of Washington. In 1990, he attended Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. While in optometry school there, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Science graduating summa cum laude in 1992. He completed his training in the Optometry program at Pacific University in 1994, graduating with distinction. In August 1994, Dr. Seidel began working at Pacific ClearVision Institute in Eugene, Oregon. As the senior optometrist, Dr. Seidel worked directly with eye surgeons managing a large variety of difficult and complex surgical patients in 3 different offices until leaving to move back to Texas in April, 2009.
