Did you know... your used eyeglasses & sunglasses can be donated?

Davison Road Optical and Newfane Family Eyecare are both drop-off
locations for the Lion's Club eyeglass recycling program.

& Eyeglass Recycling
Lions have been recycling eyeglasses for app. 80 years. The goal of the program is to give better vision to people living in developing nations. Used eyeglasses are cleaned, repaired and classified by prescription. They are then distributed to those in need by Lions, volunteers and other organizations hosting optical missions across the globe. In the 2004-05 fiscal year, Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers reported a collection of more than 5 million pairs of eyeglasses, distributing to more than 3 million people in developing nations.

How to Donate Your Eyeglasses:
|
All types of eyeglasses and sunglasses, prescription and non-prescription, are acceptable. Reading glasses are also useful because many recipients are in need of visual correction to help them perform close-up tasks. Sunglasses are needed by people living near the equator in order to shield their eyes from the sun's damaging rays.
At Davison Road Optical and Newfane Family Eyecare , you'll find a Lions Club Drop-off box in the lobby as you enter the building. Or if you prefer, pass your eyeglasses along to any of our staff members.

In June of 1999, Dr. Snyder was one
of 7 doctors on a 22-person team
who traveled to the Philippines in
conjunction with Lions Club
International.
The group examined about 14,000
patients and provided glasses for
those in need. Most had never had an
eye exam and would not have been
able to if the group had not made
them available.

During his visit, Dr. Snyder met a Catholic Nun
who teaches in a mountain province of the
Philippines.
After being without glasses for some time, he was
able to fit her with a new pair of bifocals. She was
grateful to be reading again and thus be a better
educator.
